His Highness the Amir inaugurates the 54th Annual Session of the Shura Council
His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, today patronised the opening of the first ordinary session of the second legislative term, corresponding to the 54th annual session of the Shura Council.
In his speech, HH the Amir outlined the nation’s key policies and priorities for the coming stage, highlighting national achievements across various sectors, as well as Qatar’s positions on regional and international developments.
HH the Amir began by noting the continued positive performance of the national economy, macroeconomic stability, and investor confidence in Qatar’s strong capacity to manage its resources efficiently. His Highness commended the efforts of State institutions in translating Qatar National Vision 2030 into tangible progress, with qualitative leaps made in energy, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare.
On the financial sector, HH the Amir reaffirmed its strength and resilience, noting that Qatar continues to pursue a disciplined and sustainable fiscal policy by adopting a conservative approach in estimating a price for oil to ensure realistic revenue projections and resource management. Priority will remain with projects and programs that form the main pillars of the Third National Development Strategy.
Addressing private sector competitiveness, HH the Amir underscored that the State is implementing a program designed to open new investment opportunities in selected projects and assets, enabling the private sector to manage and operate them. This initiative aims to attract foreign investment while enhancing efficiency across vital sectors, in line with the nation’s commitment to empowering the private sector.
On the energy sector, HH the Amir highlighted its continued growth despite global economic and geopolitical challenges, emphasising that Qatar has maintained stable production and uninterrupted energy supplies worldwide despite regional conflicts.
Turning to human development, HH the Amir affirmed that investment in education remains the cornerstone of Qatar’s renaissance and the means through which the nation shapes its future. His Highness also emphasised the essential role of the family in raising children and the need for parents to be directly involved in their upbringing.
Regarding the justice system, HH the Amir reiterated the country’s commitment to developing judicial frameworks and implementing mechanisms to ensure the swift resolution of cases, noting that slow justice is a form of injustice. His Highness referred to recent statistics showing improved case resolution rates and a reduction in the average duration of litigation.
In concluding his address, HH the Amir reaffirmed Qatar’s active role on the international stage, highlighting its respected mediation and humanitarian efforts. His Highness noted that these endeavours have strengthened Qatar’s global standing and cemented its reputation as a constructive, peace-promoting nation dedicated to resolving conflicts and advancing the cause of humanity.
