HE the Prime Minister attends Doha Institute for Graduate Studies graduation
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, presided over the graduation ceremony of the ninth cohort of Doha Institute for Graduate Studies’ master’s students.
HE the Prime Minister, accompanied by Dr Azmi Bishara, Board of Trustees Chair, Dr Abdulwahab El Affendi, Institute President and Provost, presented certificates to this year’s graduates.
The ceremony celebrated 220 graduates from 28 countries, which comprised 71 Qatari nationals and 95 international students supported through the Qatar Fund For Development scholarship program.
HE Sheikh Mohammed said: “It was my pleasure to attend the Doha Institute’s ninth master’s graduation ceremony. I congratulate each of these graduates on this outstanding academic achievement, which reflects the excellence of Qatar’s educational system and showcases graduates’ readiness to make meaningful contributions to development, supporting our nations’ aspirations.”
Dr El Affendi noted the special significance of this year’s ceremony: “As we celebrate these graduates, we also mark the Institute’s tenth anniversary. This knowledge hub represents Qatar’s ongoing commitment to education and knowledge creation, joining the nation’s impressive achievements in development that have become a source of national pride on the global stage.”
Sheikh Dr Abdulla bin Ali bin Saud Al Thani, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, emphasised the graduates’ potential: “This cohort embodies our vision of nurturing knowledgeable individuals equipped with critical thinking skills and creative capabilities. They carry forward our legacy of academic excellence and social responsibility, reflecting Qatar’s steadfast dedication to education and human development.”
Since its establishment, the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies has graduated 1,419 students across eight cohorts. The institution currently offers 19 internationally accredited master’s programs across its two schools—Social Sciences and Humanities, and Economics, Administration and Public Policy—complemented by eight doctoral programs in Development Economics, Public Administration, Political Science and International Relations, Linguistics and Arabic Lexicography, History, Sociology, Media Studies, and Critical Security Studies. This comprehensive academic portfolio highlights the Institute’s commitment to disciplinary diversity and research excellence.
