Prime Minister attends launch of AI-Powered Building Permits System
System enables permit issuance within 120 minutes instead of 30 days
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, today attended the launch of the Ministry of Municipality’s AI-Powered Building Permits System , a pioneering initiative that marks a major step forward in Qatar’s digital transformation. The launch reflects Qatar’s commitment to using innovation and technology to enhance the quality and efficiency of government services.
HE the Prime Minister said the initiative represents the start of a national effort to expand the use of artificial intelligence across government entities, streamline procedures and improve service delivery in support of the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The AI-Powered Building Permits System is one of the Ministry’s key projects under its digital transformation program. It is designed to speed up transactions, standardise technical requirements, support the engineering and consultancy sectors, and improve accuracy and performance by enabling up to 70 per cent of engineering plans to be processed electronically in its first phase.
HE Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya, Minister of Municipality, said the system is a major national milestone that strengthens Qatar’s leadership in applying artificial intelligence to government services. He noted that the launch is part of the country’s drive to accelerate digital transformation and improve service quality, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy.
HE the Minister explained that the system marks a significant shift in the building permits process, reducing the time required from 30 days to just 120 minutes. Using AI technology, it can automatically read and verify engineering plans to ensure compliance with approved standards — simplifying procedures, improving user experience and maintaining technical precision.
The launch of the AI-Powered Building Permits System highlights Qatar’s ongoing efforts to integrate innovation across public services and adopt technology as a key driver of sustainable development. It reaffirms the nation’s dedication to providing efficient, accurate and accessible government services that meet the needs of citizens, residents and investors.
