His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani was appointed Minister of Transport in November 2024.
Career
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani has extensive experience in finance, governance, communications and digital transformation.
Earlier in his career, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed served as a senior officer at the Qatar Armed Forces (General Headquarters).
He was then assigned to several leadership and executive positions in the Ooredoo Group, such as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Group, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Qatar, Chief Executive Officer of Ooredoo Kuwait, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ooredoo Oman, Ooredoo Kuwait, Ooredoo Myanmar and Ooredoo Algeria.
His positions also included being the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Asiacell Iraq, President Commissioner of Indosat Ooredoo, Board Member of both INJAZ Qatar and United Networks and member of the Qatar Association of Certified Public Accountants.
Education
HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Thani holds a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from Cardiff University, Wales, the UK, and a BA in Economics and Administrative Science, majored in accounting, from Qatar University.
He also holds certifications from the Leadership Program for Executives from the Qatar Leadership Centre, including courses by Harvard Business School and HEC Paris, and from the Intensive Executive Breakthrough Program by Egon Zehnder and Mobius Executive Leadership.
Responsibilities
His Excellency the Minister of Transport has overall responsibility for all Ministry of Transport issues, including:
- Regulating land, maritime and air transport in Qatar
- Developing and improving mobility and transport services, and studying their relevant projects and supervising their implementation
